Peacocks comes to CrownGate!

A new brand and new jobs will be brought to Worcester as a new Peacocks store opens its doors in CrownGate Shopping Centre.

The store will officially open on Thursday, May 21st, in the unit formerly occupied by Dunelm Mill, in Friary Walk, CrownGate.

The opening of the new store has created 20 new jobs and has transformed the empty unit, which was left unoccupied when Dunelm Mill relocated to Elgar Retail Park earlier this year.

Peacocks will stock a range of womenswear, menswear, childrenswear, lingerie, accessories and footwear and the new Worcester site is one of 35 new Peacocks stores which are set to open across the country this year.

Staff will cut the ribbon to mark the grand opening on the day, and Peacocks’ promotions team will be handing out leaflets in the city, offering customer discounts.

Store spokesman Pippa Kirkup said the store had already received a warm welcome from the people of Worcester.

“We are extremely excited about opening in Worcester – as far as we know, this is the first Peacocks store to open in the city, and we have had some great feedback already from people who can’t wait for us to open.

“The real selling point of Peacocks is its value – which, in today’s climate is more important than ever – it offers a wide range of high fashion items for affordable prices.”

Erica Burlace, CrownGate centre manager, said: “As well as creating valuable jobs for the city, Peacocks will bring an exciting new brand and a fresh flavour to CrownGate and we are sure it will be a huge success.

“It is important, especially at the moment, to offer customers a wide and varied choice and we feel Peacocks is a fantastic new addition to the centre.”

Peacocks is the latest store to open in CrownGate, which welcomed the opening of fashion chain Internacionale after it took over Mk One in February, safeguarding 15 jobs.

CrownGate is currently undergoing a £3.4 million refurbishment, which will create striking changes in the centre, including a ground-breaking, back-lit, suspended ceiling throughout the Chapel Walk section, featuring energy-saving lighting, and a cantilevered glass canopy over the Bull Walk area.

New floors, lighting, street furniture and works of art are also included in the refurbishment programme.
