The region’s finest produce on offer at brand new farmers’ market

More than 30 stall-holders will be offering shoppers a huge range of fresh, locally-produced goods during the very first farmers’ market to be held in Angel Place, CrownGate, on Sunday 18th October.

The Worcester City Farmers’ Market will now take place from 9am – 3pm on the third Sunday of every month, featuring stalls selling everything from meat, fruit and bread to ciders, preserves and plants.

Henry Wormington, chairman of Worcestershire Farmers’ Market Group said the group had been trying to arrange a centrally located market in Worcester city for many years.

“I am delighted to secure this location in the centre of the city, and would urge anyone interested in fresh, local produce and supporting their local farmers to come along and find out what farmers’ markets are all about.

“Shoppers can talk to the stallholders to find out all about their products, try samples of the goods on offer, and feel confident that they are helping to support the prosperity of their local rural economy.

“Our goods are not over-packaged, and as all of our produce comes from within 30 miles of the market, people will be helping the environment by cutting down on food miles too.”

Erica Burlace, CrownGate centre manager, said: “We are proud to host the new farmers’ market – not only does it support our local farmers, but it offers shoppers the chance to purchase fresh, high-quality, locally-produced food.

“I would encourage people to come down and sample the wealth of fine produce on offer.”

The Worcester City Farmers’ Market has been jointly organised and supported by CrownGate, Bray Associates, VisitWorcester and Worcestershire Farmers Market Group.
