Boots and Culpeper join health MOT event
Boots and Culpeper have now joined NHS Worcestershire’s special health event, taking place in CrownGate Shopping Centre next Tuesday (12th January).
The Health MOT, running from 11am to 4pm in Bell Square, will give shoppers feeling the excesses of the festive period the chance to get their new year off to a healthier start.
Health experts will be offering free health checks including blood pressure, BMI (body mass index), carbon monoxide level and risk of type 2 diabetes.
Now joining them will be a healthcare consultant from Boots, who will be giving general healthy living and wellbeing advice on subjects including vitamins, weight loss and stopping smoking. Advice on new products Respirate, which can help to reduce blood pressure and Breast Light, which helps detect breast lumps early, will also be available.
To help shoppers get 2010 off to a stress-free start, Culpeper will be offering free tasters of aromatherapy hand massage from 12pm-2pm and Indian head massage from 2pm-4pm, as well as giving advice on how these and many of the other holistic therapies they offer can help with general health as well as specific health issues.
Julia North, NHS Worcestershire’s Health Improvement Specialist Coordinator, said: “We’re bringing health services to the people, rather than people having to access advice and information for themselves.
“Just like you give your car an annual MOT to ensure it’s healthy, you should also take care of your own health and make sure you’re in tip top condition for the year ahead.
