Nostalgic celebrations at vintage benebabes event
Shoppers will be taken back in time to the glamorous forties, the film-star fifties and the swinging sixties thanks to a special event in CrownGate Shopping Centre on Saturday, May 29th.
The ‘benebabes’ team from the benefit beauty counter in Boots have joined forces with Wicked Hair, on Worcester’s High Street, for a celebration of the 40s, 50s and 60s.
Shoppers in CrownGate’s Bell Square will be whisked back in time, with makeover demonstrations, fashion shows and live music, from 1pm-3pm.
The benebabes and Wicked Hair will be recreating the iconic celebrity hair and make-up looks from glossy waves and ruby lips to dramatic eyes and chiselled cheekbones, adding their own modern twist as they go.
Fashion shows will take place on the hour, from 1pm, featuring vintage clothes from Toadstool Vintage and Secondhand Rose, a selection of which will also be available to buy on the day.
And local musician Ruby, from Ruby and the Rough Diamonds will be getting shoppers in the retro mood with live music throughout the event.
Event organiser Lydia Repton, from the benefit team, explained: “We want to recreate the fun and excitement of these three very different decades with a truly nostalgic celebration of all things vintage.
“The true spirit of benefit is fun and glamour, and there is nothing more glamorous than the film stars of the 40s and 50s - just think of Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn and Rita Hayworth to name but a few.
“Then came the swinging sixties, when Twiggy encapsulated a new, youthful and fun-loving look, which summed up this dynamic decade – all of these iconic styles deserve to be celebrated and that is what we aim to do.
“We hope that people will come down to CrownGate, soak up some nostalgia and join in the celebrations.”
The vintage benebabes event will take place in Bell Square, CrownGate from 1pm – 3pm on Saturday 29th May.
