The loveable postie will be in Friary Walk, along with Hursty and Helen from Wyvern, to begin the season’s festivities.
The team will also be joined on stage by a lucky child who will be helping to light up the centre when he or she presses the button just after 6pm.
Shoppers are invited to join in from 5pm for fun, games and music with the Wyvern Street Stars before the final countdown begins at 6pm.
CrownGate centre manager, Erica Burlace, explained why this year’s switch-on is an extra-special event.
“We’ve an entirely new and magical Christmas lights scheme throughout the centre, as well as a new, interactive grotto for Father Christmas.”
