The festive season is nearly upon us, as decked-out store fronts, glittering lights and festive cheer bring all the wonder of Christmas to Crowngate Shopping Centre in Worcester this winter. Events and activities for the festive season include the popular Christmas Lights switch on, Father Christmas visits and a free Christmas Trail.

On Saturday 26th November, from 4pm to 7pm shoppers are invited to wrap up warm and head to the city for the Christmas light switch-on in Cathedral Square at 6pm. Father Christmas will be back this year for the switch-on joined by The Mayor and the full panto cast from the Cinderella pantomime at The Swan Theatre.

Late Night Shopping starts from Thursday 24th November, with a selection of stores staying open and Crowngate parking reduced to just £1 after 5pm.

Father Christmas will also be visiting the centre Thursday – Sunday throughout December, with an extra visit on Wednesday 21st. There are plenty of opportunities for kids to say hello and have a photo with the man himself. Father Christmas meet and greets are free and take place at ToyTown and in Chapel Walk.

Aiming to make Christmas Shopping fun for all the family, other highlights include a free Christmas trail to find 20 Gingerbread Houses hidden in shop windows, free face painting in the History & Heritage Pod on selected weekends and a crocheted community Christmas Tree. The streets will also come to life with live performances by local artists including sets by Worcester Ukulele Club and carol singing by St Barnabas Primary School.

And perhaps the star on the top of the tree is the chance for shoppers to win a Gingerbread House worth over £6k, and have it delivered to their home. Crowngate’s magical Gingerbread House has been built by D&J Timber Buildings and decorated by Three Counties Christmas. Shoppers can enter the raffle by buying £2 Raffle tickets which will raise funds for Crowngate’s charity of the year, ONSIDE.

Michael Lloyd, Centre Manager at Crowngate Shopping Centre said, “This year we’ve pulled out all the stops to make Christmas shopping feel magical and exciting. The light switch on is always a great event, and we’re excited to welcome Father Christmas back again this year. With live music, a raffle, face painting and a free trail there’s plenty to make shopping a great day out for all the family.”
